Pure Wash is a small bath and body maker on Ness Avenue in Winnipeg. We make our own soap and skincare in the back of the shop, and keep the front shelves for more than twenty-five other Canadian makers. Whipped Soap came out of a complaint we kept hearing at the counter. A good bar can leave skin feeling tight, and body wash means another plastic bottle in the shower. So we started whipping a shea butter and coconut oil base into something soft enough to scoop, rich enough to shave with, and gentle enough to use every day. One jar sits on the edge of the tub and does the work of two or three products. Every batch is whipped, scented and jarred by hand in our studio, which is why no two look exactly alike. Sugar Plum is the winter one — ripe plum and blackcurrant over sugared vanilla, with a touch of cardamom behind it. Festive without being sickly, and it does well on a shelf from November onward.
